A: As of July 1, 2025, CRS 18-12-202.5 requires:

• At least 8 hours of in-person instruction

• A live-fire shooting exercise

• A written exam covering firearm safety, legal responsibilities, and self-defense laws Online-only courses no longer qualify.

Q: What documents do I need?

A: You’ll need:

• Valid photo ID

• Completed registration and waiver forms (available on our site)

Q: What should I bring to the live-fire portion?

A: Bring your handgun, 100 rounds of ammunition, eye and ear protection. Loaner firearms are NOT available—please provide your own and make sure it is in good working condition.

Q: Can I take the course if I’m under 21?

A: You may attend for educational purposes, but Colorado law requires you to be 21 or older to apply for a concealed carry permit.

Q: What if I’ve never handled a firearm before?
